Graduate Scheme Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need a specific degree to apply for the graduate scheme?

Yes, you must hold a 2.2 degree or higher to be eligible for our Graduate Management Schemes. While we accept various subjects, a Science or Business-related degree is preferred for our Pest Control, Specialist Hygiene, and Washroom Hygiene pathways, whereas Urban Planters welcomes broader disciplines in horticulture. You must also possess a full UK driving licence, with no more than six penalty points.

  • What does the graduate scheme at Rentokil Initial involve?

Graduates join as a Technician, or in Indoor Sales to gain essential "hands-on" experience from day one. Our graduate schemes are available in our Pest Control, Specialist Hygiene, Urban Planters and Washroom Hygiene businesses, and are designed to build your technical expertise and commercial confidence. Once you are familiar with the fundamentals of the business, you will be encouraged to seek your next role in pathways, such as Operations, Sales or Technical.

  • How can I progress in the graduate scheme?

You progress by learning the business from the ground up, spending your first year getting stuck into the day-to-day work of a technician or internal sales person. This hands-on experience is where you earn your industry-recognised qualifications and build the technical knowledge you'll need to lead others later. After twelve months, you will be in a strong position to apply for leadership or specialist roles, such as Team Leader or Sales Surveyor, as they become available.

  • What does a day in the life of a graduate look like?

A day in the life involves performing essential frontline duties, such as delivering pest control treatments, hygiene services, or interior landscaping maintenance. You will travel to diverse customer locations, from commercial offices to residential homes, managing your own route and recording service data digitally. You will also attend formal graduate assessment days to network with other graduates and review your development.

  • What is the salary of a graduate at Rentokil Initial?

Graduates typically start with a basic salary between £25,700 and £27,000, with London-based roles offering an additional weighting allowance of up to £2,000. Your total On-Target Earnings (OTE) can range from £31,000 to £34,000, including performance bonuses and commission earned by submitting successful sales leads. The full package also includes a company vehicle, fuel card, and "RI Rewards" for retail discounts.
