Initial Washroom Hygiene Graduate Scheme

I have been with Rentokil Initial since April 2019.

Rentokil Initial's hiring process was flexible whilst I planned my house move, they did their utmost to make sure there was a suitable date and time to attend.

Career at Rentokil Initial

  • What do you do all day? - I’m doing something different almost every day, it is impossible to get bored! When I first started with Initial Washroom Hygiene, I worked as a Service Driver for the first 2 weeks, before working in the warehouse and learning the products. Since then, I have got involved with shadowing an Electrician, learning and improving office systems, planning routes for and mentoring drivers, carrying out customer QAs face-to-face and much more!

  • What do you love about your job? - The best thing I’ve done so far is shadowing the electrical installs, I don’t know why, but I enjoy it so much! Everyone I come into contact with has a real team ethos, it’s amazing to see everyone working hard towards the same goal, especially the Service Drivers.

  • What types of support are you currently receiving on the scheme? - I’ve received great support so far, everyone has been asking me how I’m doing. My manager is putting his heart and soul into training me! I’ve received a call at the end of each day, checking I’m okay both professionally and emotionally. It's been fantastic support.

  • Where do you want to go from here? - I will soon be looking after a full team of Service Drivers, Fitters and Electricians. I’ll spend time getting into more of a routine in management, becoming the best I can be before I start looking towards promotion opportunities. However, I do aim high, so expect to see more of me!

  • What makes you a Rentokil Initial person? - My degree in Sociology and Criminology has nothing to do with what I’m doing now! The company comes across as very informal and I feel I fit nicely into this environment. It is obvious that there is an attempt to hire people who will enjoy working towards targets in a wider team and have that sense of togetherness, which means I find lots of people in this company I can relate to and look up to.

  • What advice would you give to potential graduate applicants? - Go for it, why not? It’s amazing to see how a big company works and how every little cog fits into the bigger picture. I often find my mind being blown. Everyone should experience working in a big company like Rentokil Initial.
