“I joined the business in 2003 on the Rentokil Initial Graduate Program having just completed a business degree at University. My reason for joining the business was twofold – my father was a Branch Manager for our Property Care business in the 1970’s and I also knew a family friend who worked for the business at the time. Both recommended Rentokil Initial as a great place to work with particular focus on employee development and internal promotion. At the time I knew I wanted to run a business but was not sure how to. RI have provided me with a very hands on, structured training and development program that has allowed me to develop as a general manager and do what I always wanted to do.
During my time on the Graduate Program I worked in several of the Rentokil businesses and appointed to my first management position in 2006. In 2015 I was offered the role of Area Director for the Caribbean.
My new role is based in Trinidad and covers all Rentokil Initial business in the Caribbean. It is a fantastic career opportunity for me personally and a life experience for us as a family! It has given me the opportunity to learn new cultures, environments and languages.
The internal training and development courses are fantastic, however you have to translate the new ideas to your day to day job role. Rentokil Initial will give you the opportunity to prove yourself in a front line management role. You just have to apply yourself, drive your business daily and deliver your business growth targets.
There are many things I enjoy about working for Rentokil Initial. I love working with people which is essential in our business. I get great satisfaction from seeing my team develop as managers and get promoted within the business. The general management role provides so much variety too. Every day is completely different. The role is challenging as it can be a very pressurised environment and you have to work hard to succeed and deliver your targets consistently.
Five years ago if someone had told me I would be running the business in the Caribbean and living in Trinidad I would never have believed them! You never know what opportunities will arise, you just have to put yourself in the best possible position to grab them when they do present themselves…”

I joined the RI Management Graduate Programme in 2003 after a long job search as I wanted to find a company that was the right fit for me. It was important to me to join a global organisation where not only would I have the opportunity to learn from the ground up but also where there were many career opportunities. Rentokil Initial has ticked both these boxes for me.
As a Graduate I worked in a variety of roles learning the basics of business and then was promoted to Branch Manager in 2006. Since that time I was also appointed to Local Operations Manager, Regional Service Manager and then Area Operations Manager, prior to moving into my current role.
The training and development I have received over the years has been second to none. RI will provide you with the all the training and skills to do your job and the rest is up to you!
I enjoy working for RI because the customer base is very wide and varied, meaning that I have the opportunity to visit many different places and learn many different things…no two days are the same!
One of the best things for me about working for Rentokil Initial is the fact that this is very much a place where, if you develop, grow and deliver, you can move into various different roles. I’ve learned so much in my time with RI and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to move to a different country within the business, using my knowledge gained the in the UK to develop the MENAT region.
